Hi, I am Shawn :-)

As a postgraduate student myself, I understand the unique challenges primarily faced by other postgraduate students. Whether it be balancing work, childcare or other family commitments with studies, returning to studies after a long break from education or even something else, I will endeavour to ensure that the support needed to succeed in your studies is available through the university.

I will also act as a dedicated point of contact for all postgraduate students, so that they can be signposted to the relevant support and facilities available through the university. In addition, I will organise regular postgraduate drop-in sessions both in-person and online. Concerns and feedback brought up at these sessions will be fed back through the students’ union to the appropriate staff at the university to facilitate continuous improvement where appropriate.

Whilst the university offers wonderful career development opportunities already, I will also work closely with the university’s careers team to enhance career development, networking and placement opportunities specifically relevant to postgraduate students.

To instil confidence in me, I'd like to add that I have been elected twice as an undergraduate student representative in the past and have a proven track record of representing fellow students, including at national level at the National Union of Students (NUS).
