Hi, I am Shawn :-)

Having a proven track record of championing "student voice" in one of the largest students’ unions in UK by being elected and serving as its Chair twice (when I was an undergraduate student), I am now (as a postgraduate student) running for the office of Chair at LTSU Student Council.

As Chair of the Student Council, I will endeavour to ensure that every student and student group is meaningfully represented within the students’ union. Through my past experience of chairing Student Council meetings, I will facilitate productive dialogues and debates which lead to consensus based decisions that benefit LTU students. I will also enhance inclusivity by actively encouraging participation of underrepresented groups in all activities of the students' union, including discussions and debates, which in turn will also enhance democracy.  Furthermore, I will campaign to enhance services that matter the most to LTU students.

To achieve the above, whilst acting as the Chair of the Student Council, I will also collaborate with relevant staff of the university. Moreover, I will act as a representative of all students and student groups by ensuring that important student issues are raised and brought to the attention of the highest levels of the university’s management, through the students' union.

So, as the Chair of the Student Council, I will ensure that LTSU does the best for students whilst also lobbying the university’s management for continuous improvement of the student experience.
