Join the Yorkshire Dales National Park as a Co-Opted Young Member!

 

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is looking for two young people (18-30) to help shape the future of the park by joining their Finance & Resources Committee. No finance experience needed—just your passion for the environment and fresh ideas!

What's the Role About?

You’ll get to influence big decisions about how the park is run, bringing the voice of young people and underrepresented communities into the room. While you won’t have voting power, you’ll be fully involved in discussions and can really make an impact.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Attend important meetings (around 2 days/month).
  • Speak up in debates and bring your unique perspective to the table.
  • Help make the park more inclusive and accessible for everyone.
  • Represent the park in your community and online, advocating for nature and sustainability.
  • Get involved in cool events like Policy Development Forums and training days.

Time Commitment:

  • About 2 days per month.
  • Meetings happen both in person and online, so you’ll need to stay flexible.
  • Includes 4 main committee meetings, plus extra events like staff days and member training.

  • You can apply with a short video (3 minutes max) or a written piece (up to 3 pages).
  • Just tell us why you’re interested, how you fit the role, and share a time you’ve positively influenced a group or community.
