Joining My First Society

Why join societies?

Joining societies is an excellent way to improve your social life, They also give you opportunities to do fun things in your free time or when you need a break from assignments. Societies are great fun and joining them will help you to make the most of your university experience and have fun while you are at university!

Fresher’s Fair

There’s no better way to find out more about the societies and clubs on offer than by going to the Fresher’s Fair! This enabled me to find out what the different societies and clubs were all about and allowed me to be able to meet people on the committee and ask lots of questions to find out more! Fresher’s Fair is the best way to sign up to your first society/club!

Societies and Clubs I joined

I joined Badminton club, as well Pool Society, Together and Wellbeing Society and Book Society.

Badminton club has plenty of opportunity to showcase your skills against other universities through sports events such as Varsity! I joined Pool Society because I regularly enjoy playing pool in my free time and joining the society allowed me to receive coaching and further improve my skills!

Through joining the Together and Wellbeing Society and Book Society I became a member of the committee team. The roles I have within these committee teams have allowed me to develop confidence through helping to make team decisions.
