Leeds Trinity Students’ Union or LTSU is a small Students' Union with a big reputation, which is dedicated to ensuring that every student gets the most out of their time at Leeds Trinity University. LTSU offers a variety of services to support students’ academic, social, and personal growth. We're a small organisation with big ideas, and we're on our way to becoming even better. Our services are supported by a staff team who are experts in their fields and enable us to sustain an environment so that you can all have, the best experience at Leeds Trinity, for all students

LTSU is a not-for-profit charity, registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with the Charity Commission. Ran by students, for students, we are governed by our Constitution and have a two-tier structure led by our students and guided by our Trustee Board which is made up of Officers and appointed Members (student and external).

Everything we deliver is informed by our core values and most importantly, our members!

Our Impact

Following on from defining our Values and our Purpose, LTSU has looked at where we can make the most impact for our students at Leeds Trinity. These are all interlinked projects, connected, and do not stand independently.

Our Structure

LTSU is independent from the University, so it can truely represent the voice of students and their interests to not only the university, but also on a local and national scale.

Any student at Leeds Trinity University can be a member of LTSU, you just need to make sure you have opted in during registration. If you have any issues with this please email the team.

In March each year students are elected to over 200 roles across LTSU. This includes Course Reps, Sports Club and Society Committee members, Student Council members and two students who take on a paid, full-time role as either President or Vice President. Alongside this, as a charity in its own right, LTSU appoints trustees.

#Representing

Students at Leeds Trinity University deserve to feel that they are represented independently, that their voices are heard, that their needs and views are represented and that they can create change

The Student Council provide the democratic, political leadership of the organisation. The Board of Trustees are legally responsible for the organisation.

Both the Sabbatical Officers and Trustees are supported by the Chief Executive of LTSU who ensures the organisation is legally compliant, the strategic plan of LTSU is enacted, and manages the staff team and finances.

There are currently eight core full and part-time staff roles that work with the Sabbatical Officers and the Chief Executive. Between them, they give independent, impartial advice, support a range of events from Freshers’ Week to Awards, Give it a Go activities, Sports Clubs and Societies, Course Representatives, student voice, the Student Bar and the SU Shop. A team of current Leeds Trinity students are also employed to support with student engagement and digital communications.

#Supporting

LTSU Advice Centre is the hub for getting advice on all the problems you might face whilst studying at University. We are an independent, free service, so you can confidently speak to us on various subjects. We're here to help and support you; if we can't help, we know someone who can! ?

It is imperative that students are provided with independent advice and support which is accessible when they need it and that it can be trusted. We will provide trusted, confidential, and independent advice to students where and when they need it to support all their wellbeing that being financial, housing, and mental health as examples.

Strategy

LTSU has achieved a lot since our first Strategic Plan was launched in 2017, but there is so much more we can deliver. In 2022, we took the opportunity to truly review, reflect and consider our direction so that we can truly say, we are run by students, for students!

Through an ongoing conversation with our members and key stakeholders which consisted of surveys, workshops, interviews, and focus groups, not only have we been able to develop our plan, but Shape Your Union is a key part of measuring our success, based on our vision, mission and impact outcomes over the next three years.

More details of our Strategy can be found here: Shape your Union

As our mission states, we are here for you, run by you, and we are committed to that. We will review our strategy regularly each year through; feedback forms, surveys, 1-2-1s and forums, to ensure we deliver the best experience at Leeds Trinity for all students, through our four commitments
